You’re a woman who’s tired of feeling stuck in your life and you’re ready for change.
You’ve always believed life should be purposeful and fun, and maybe at some point in the past you felt good about your life, but now, you feel deflated, unhappy, and not sure where to go next. That spring you used to have in your step is gone.
You’ve read a ton of self-help books which have given you a helpful nugget or two, but you don’t really have someone you can turn to for help with your specific situation.
I’ve been there too and I can help.
Hi, I’m Susan Carroll.
I’m a life coach for women who feel like life is passing them by. They believe life should be meaningful and fulfilling but they’re stuck and don’t know where to start. I help them tune into the answers they know are inside so they can lead a meaningful life doing more of what they love.
I can do it myself.
I grew up in a loving family that taught me I needed to be independent and could do everything on my own. The messages I got were about self-reliance as well as following my own true path. But that path needed to be “approved” by them. I tried very hard to be that independent person, follow what felt good to me, and look over my shoulder for their approval at the same time.
In college I struggled to find what I was really excited about. I started with a major in Psychology, then realized half-way through I really didn’t want to be a Psychologist. I had this amazing family telling me that I could do whatever I wanted as long as it was “practical” and could help me make a good living. They didn’t want me taking risks for fear that I might fail. I was already a certified fitness instructor and spent quite a bit of time leading classes as well as exercising for my own health.
When I finished college, I had a fantastic offer form a company that was going to put me through Physical Therapy school, then pay me a great salary when I finished. It was a no brainer on paper, but my heart had other plans and told me to work on a cruise ship as a fitness instructor post graduation instead of going to graduate school right away. I was scared out of my mind to share this idea with my family. They thought I was nuts and questioned me about this decision. It was one of the first times I led from my inner voice and stood up for myself. This direction felt so true for me. In the end, they supported me. It was the perfect decision and I had the most amazing adventure traveling the world for over 3 years, meeting loads of interesting people.
Then life threw me a curve ball.
In my mid-thirties I experienced what I call a trifecta of despair. My mother was diagnosed with cancer, my first marriage fell apart, and so did my career at that time. I used to eat when I wasn’t hungry, I had headaches for no specific reason, and just overall felt shitty. I also felt really alone. I wondered how I had gotten to this place. I found myself sprawled on my bedroom floor, sobbing.
I remember this moment like it was yesterday. Lying on my beige-colored carpet I thought,” I don’t like the life I have right now but I know I can create something different.” I knew I had been happy in the past and I wanted more of that.
This is when I embarked on a spiritual path to discover who I really was and what I wanted in my life. I was exhausted and overwhelmed from trying to live a life that was filled from morning to night with busyness but not a lot of meaning. I yearned to live a life where I used my talents and gifts to help others, and live a life that felt more like my true nature. One at a slower pace with more peace, contentment, meaning, and fulfillment.
I asked for help.
I sought out a counselor to help me navigate leaving my old life and to start creating a new one. Having someone listen to me and help me feel heard and understood was a breath of fresh air. She helped me really see myself, what I wanted, and needed.
I continued on my journey and discovered that Mother Nature was the starting place every time I needed to slow down, feel grounded, or contemplate. It was outside that I was able to connect with the true me. I had no idea that my true self was already grounded and peaceful. My inner voice knew exactly what I wanted and I felt much more clear when spending time outside. From there it became obvious what needed to shift in my life.
My heart first led me to get a Masters degree in Counseling. Then on to train as a Life Coach where I learned how to guide people to their own right lives by having them listen deeply to their own truths. My heart also led me to a Nature-Based coach training where I learned how to use nature as tool in helping women reconnect to their inner voice.
I found myself again.
Sometimes we have to get off our true paths in order to find what we’re looking for. It’s what happened to me and what has happened to so many of the fantastic women I work with. I’ve now lived my life, my way, for over a decade and it feels amazing.
To live a life that feels most fulfilling and meaningful to you, you’ve got to come home to yourself first. You are your most important starting place.
Today I help women listen to their inner voice, bust through the blocks that have kept them stuck, and watch them gain confidence and happiness as they follow the answers that reflect what’s in their hearts and souls. Each time I start with a new client I feel an excitement around the shifts I know they can make in their lives. I remember so well what it was like to feel lost, yet knowing there had to be another way. I’m so thankful I sought out someone to “see” me and help me move forward towards what felt most true and important to me. It’s a heartfelt privilege to be that person for other women.

Here are some things I Believe:
Mother Nature never gets it wrong
Animals have so much to teach us about living life authentically
Time spent on the beach can rectify anything
Quiet time alone is your best ally for a life well lived
Books can take you to magical places
Everything in moderation will keep you sane
Flowers can brighten any day
Anything worth doing well is worth doing slowly and deliberately
If you follow your heart and soul, you’ll always be at home
