And A New Year Begins

Tomorrow we begin again. January 1, 2017. How do you want to begin again? Is it a habit you want to change, a goal you want to accomplish, a dream you want to see through to fruition? Maybe it’s a beginning of less doing, and more rest.

This is my last newsletter of the year to you. I made a commitment last December to send this newsletter out every week for 52 weeks this year. I did it. I am so proud of myself. What have you done this year that you’re proud of? Take some time to relish in that and honor what you have done.

As 2017 becomes a reality, I’ve got some big plans. I’m in the midst of creating a new website, changing the look and name of this newsletter, and offering you some new ways of working with me. It has been in the works for a couple of months now. As you know, change takes time. I’m thoughtfully making changes and moving forward with what I want my life to look and feel like in 2017.

If 2016 taught me anything, it’s that unexpected and unwelcome changes happen. It isn’t that they actually happen (because they always will), but how do I want to show up in my life when life hits me as I’m making other plans.

I’ve been sitting with what my word for the new year should be. What word would inspire me to create all that I want to create in my life this year both personally and professionally?

And now I know that my word for 2017 is, CREATE.

One of the definitions of create I found online sounded perfect.
to cause to come into being, as something unique that would not naturally evolve or that is not made by ordinary processes.
2. to evolve from one’s own thought or imagination, as a work of art or an invention.

Oh- doesn’t that sound fun?!

I also realize that whenever I want to create something that’s important, something that has meaning, I have to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. I’m going to have to get out of my comfort zone over and over again to do that. So basically I’m making a meal in 2017 where the main dish is creation with a huge side of uncomfortableness.

What would you like your word for 2017 to be? What would inspire you to show up for yourself in the way you want ? It can be more than one word. Let it be your guide, your rock, your solid place. It’s the word that when you think of it, it brings you strength, courage, peace, and inspiration. Whatever feels good to you.

And just know, that uncomfortable doesn’t mean you’re on the wrong path. It just means you’re growing. And growth means a little pain every now and then. And as hard as it is, it’s always worth it.

Just an FYI- The first week of 2017 you won’t receive this newsletter. Look for it the second Saturday of January. A new look, a “slightly” new name, and I’ll probably unveil my new website.

It has been such a joy for me to write to you every week. Thank you for all of your comments and emails, and letting me know that what I say makes a difference for you.

Leave a comment on the blog below if you’d like.

If you think, “I know one friend who would really like this”, please forward it to them.

If you found this helpful, let me know. I’d love to hear from you,
