I often hear people saying something like this with variations. I wish life could be more simple. I wish there wasn’t so much to do all the time. I want to simplify my life.
What’s most important about this is knowing the answer to the question, what does a more simple life look like and mean for you?
What would you have more of if you lived a more simple life?
What would you have less of if you lived a more simple life?
If your life were more simple, how do you think you would feel?
Simplicity is very personal. We each have our own definition for ourselves and lives. You’ve got to know what it is for you before you can start the process of trying to have it and live it.
Ask yourself what is really important, and then have the wisdom and courage to build your life around your answer.
I can almost guarantee you that a simpler life revolves around the feeling states you want to have in your life. Gratitude, peace, love, relaxation, fill in the blank for you. It’s not the simplicity itself. It’s how you feel when you have it.
Are you living with what you need and/or what you love? If it fits into one of those two categories it probably serves your life well. If not, it might be time to toss it. Whether it’s tangible hands on physical objects, relationships, old ideas, or bad habits.
It really can be that simple.
