We passed through Oklahoma City in HaRVey to visit a college friend, Kathryn, and her husband, Kevin. They have one cool-ass inspiring story I’d like to share. They’ve been together a few years and married for 18 months. She has 15 years of organic farming experience and he has several years as a gardener through practice, research, and self-study.
Since they coupled up, their dream has been to create an organic farm together where they would grow vegetables, pigs, and have a multi-species, intensely rotated livestock farm with a community education facility on site where they could teach sustainability to anyone interested.
This was their “when they’ve earned and saved enough money down the road” plan.
They both worked for the same company, Kathryn the coordinator of the community employee garden, and Kevin, an IT business analyst.
Recently their company brought in a new CEO and the new head honcho restructured.
They both lost their jobs within a month.
Well, maybe initially…
But then they realized, and I quote Kathryn,” we put it out there to the universe that this organic farm was what we wanted and the time was apparently right because we got the push we needed”.
Since they lost their jobs, all sort of opportunities have lined up to help them start to make their dream a reality. Land has been offered by various parties as well as some financial backing to get them started.
It’s already been a lot of hard work and many frustrating moments have come along, but they both had a vision, and have been working towards it.
My friends have no doubt and I don’t either, that the universe is bringing everything together for their dream to become reality. And as she told me, “timing is everything”.
They wouldn’t have chosen to both lose their jobs at the same time, but they’re going with the flow and trust that the universe has a better-timed plan than they did.
It always does. Timing is everything. It just might not be on your time frame.
Good luck my friends! I’ll be cheering you on, through the whole messy, crazy, fun process!
Sometimes the universe tells you when it’s time to move forward with your dream. But you’ve got to be ready to go with it, because you never know when that might happen.
